Former Liverpool great set for Championship outfit
The 36-year-old, who left Liverpool for the second time in 2007, had been linked with playing in the new Indian Premier League but has been left in dark after the opening of the league was postponed.
This has led Blackpool, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, to offer Fowler a trial on the seaside with a view to signing a permanent deal.
“Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has trained with the club today, with a view to signing a permanent deal,” read a tweet from Blackpool’s official Twitter account.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, manager Ian Holloway added: “It’s the first time I’ve asked a trialist for an autograph.
“Has he got some quality? Can he find little pockets? Can he play a pass? Can he score a goal? Yes he can.”
Blackpool currently lie fourth in the Championship table.
