Arsenal lining-up Championship starlet to replace Walcott?
Arsenal are pondering a swoop for Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha to help replace Theo Walcott – says the Metro.
Walcott, who was also a Championship player when Arsenal snapped-up the then 16-year-old in 2006, is currently undergoing contract negotiations with the Gunners hierarchy but it is widely believed that the England international could leave the Emirates in the next 12 months.
This has led Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to look for potential replacements and it appears that Zaha, 19, is one of those on the Frenchman’s wish list.
The teenager has four goals from 10 appearances in the Championship this campaign and mainly operates from a wide area – a position that Walcott is determined to vacate in his bid to become a central striker.
Zaha is currently contracted to Palace until 2017 and the report claims that only a bid of £12m would tempt the Eagles into selling their star asset to their Premier League counterparts.
