Our resident Chelsea correspondent – Editor of – thinks the winger could do well in West London…

Stephane Sessegnon is reportedly one his way out of Paris St Germain as the player has fallen out with the club and is keen on a move away, is it worth Chelsea taking a gamble on the Benin international?

Sessegnon is a versatile player and is comfortable in a number of midfield positions but is most notably a playmaker, which is the type of player the Blues could do with as Frank Lampard is the only established creative midfielder currently available.

He has attracted high profile suitors in the past as clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City have all previously shown an interest in the player, but he was offered a significant rise in pay to stay at PSG in July 2009.

However, last month Sessegnon revealed that it was ‘impossible’ to stay at the French outfit after falling out with Antoine Kombouare, PGS manager, during a training session.

The 26-year-old said in the Daily Mail: “The coach insulted me. I believe that a coach cannot call one of his players ‘a******’ or call him ‘a s*** player’ as was the case with me… That is what he said to me, I am not going to cover up what he said. Under these conditions, it appears to me that it is impossible to continue to play for Paris. Impossible.”

The likes of Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle are reportedly chasing the player who could be available at a knockdown price of £7 million, but I think he could potentially be a bargain deal for Chelsea as he can play out wide or as a more central playmaker.
