The agent of PSV Eindhoven striker Jeremain Lens claims that speculation linking his client with Liverpool is wide of the mark for the moment.

Liverpool’s striking options have been severely limited this season after loaning out £35m signing Andy Carroll to West Ham and losing summer acquisition Fabio Borini to a broken foot only recently.

This has led to rumours suggesting that boss Brendan Rodgers could swoop for Lens, 24, but the Dutch international’s agent says there is nothing in the stories.

Quoted by Sky Sports, Kees-Ploegsma said: “Juventus and Liverpool interested in Lens? I have had no type of contact with them, but I cannot know if they have spoken directly with PSV.

“Lens still has a three-year contract with PSV and I think it is not intended to leave in January, but in football anything can happen.”

It has also been speculated that Liverpool have an option to bring back Carroll in the January window should they need him come the winter.
