Teenage Finnish starlet in Liverpool move u-turn

Finnish Under-21 striker Joel Pohjanpalo has announced that he would like to sign for Liverpool – just months after snubbing a switch to Anfield.

The 18-year-old, who is a regular for HJC Helsinki in his native Finland, was the subject of a bid from Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool during but the teenager decided to stay put.

However, Pohjanpalo has now stated that it would be a “dream” to play for the five time European Champions. “I don’t know where I’ll be playing next season, but it’s my dream to play for Liverpool FC one day,” he is quoted by the Mirror.

Although, speaking in August, Pohjanpalo said: “It was a hard decision to reject Liverpool’s contract offer. HJK is a good club and there’s a great feeling in this group.”

The youngster has a contract with HJC until 2015 and has 11 goals in 28 league games for the club this season.
