The Daily Mirror reports that Brendan Rodgers is looking to add Alex Pearce to his improving Liverpool side in January.

The Republic of Ireland international played under Rodgers while both were at the Madejski Stadium and some impressive performances during the Royals return to the Premier League has caught the eye of the Liverpool boss. The 24 year old was an ever-present in Reading promotion campaign last term but has been replaced by summer signing Adrian Marriappa and Sean Morrison of late.

Pearce represented Scotland at Under 21 level and has just the solitary appearance for Republic of Ireland, scoring in a 4-1 victory over Oman in September. The centre back has notched up 109 appearances for Reading since 2006, finding the net 11 times.
