Barcelona to off-load David Villa & Dani Alves
David Villa and Dani Alves are edging towards Barcelona exit reports Marca.
Both have not been able to impress Tito Vilanova as they are clearly no longer undisputed starters in the Barca team. The situation could change by the end of the season but at the moment, it seems unlikely that it will.
A year ago, under Pep Guardiola, this notion would have been unthinkable.
The competition within the Catalan team is intense and the aging players are losing grip on a starting position.
Spain’s all-time top scorer, Villa, is desperate to not miss the 2014 World Cup after he had to sit out the successful defence of the European Championships due to injury.
Dani Alves has a similar story but the 2014 mega event is taking place in his home-country, Brazil.
Barca do not intend to force Villa out but if he wants to leave, the club will not stand in his way. However, the Catalan club has considered selling Alves at the end of last season and this January could be his last in Barcelona colors.
