Liverpool target Arda Turan wants to leave Atletico

Reports in the Daily Star suggest that Liverpool could be set to bid for Atletico Madrid’s Arda Turan after the Turk has stated his desire to quit the La Liga side.

The former Galatasaray man is a key player for Atleti but is now keen to move to another league and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is ready to bring him to the Premier League.

Having told winger Stewart Downing he is free to leave Anfield, Rodgers will be looking for a replacement this January and Arda Turan fits the bill.

Rumours of a move to Merseyside have been fuelled as the Turkey international has been photographed in a Reds’ shirt in the past.

There could be a stumbling block however, Liverpool would have to splash out nearly £20 million to meet Arda Turan’s release clause.
