Gunners to agree £19m deal for Arda Turan?

Caughtoffside.com are reporting that Arsenal have agreed personal terms to sign Atletico Madrid play-maker, Arda Turan. Any move by Arsenal to sign the Turkish midfielder would have to trigger the players £19 million buy-out clause in his contract.

Arda Turan agent, Ahmet Bulut claims the player wants a new challenge;

“Arda has played for Atletico Madrid for two seasons now. I have wanted to see him play for another team in another league and Arda wants the same.

We are working on making this happen, Atletico know what our intention is and are working with us. If all goes well, Arda will leave the Madrid club at the end of the season”.

Turan’s main position is a winger who can play as versatile across the centre of midfield; this adaptability of the player may well be what greatly interests Arsene Wenger in making a move for the player.

Turan was instrumental in helping Ateltico Madrid to Europa League success in his first season and has been further impressive in the current campaign, helping Diego Simeone’s side to second position in La Liga and mount a serious title challenge with Spanish giants Barcelona.

Turan, who is a technically gifted player, is comfortable with the ball at his feet and has a good turn of pace. It is an attribute which would attract Arsenal as crucially as being available for Champions League football.

      so hard to believe AW can pay that much given his desire to get players on the cheap,probably he can only pay that price for arda after selling THEO to chelsea at 22m so that he retains a decent profit.otherwise who did he buy with the 24m from the sale of RVP, and the 15m from alex song?

    Wenger will never pay 19 mill for a player he thought had been overpriced at 11 mill just 2 years ago when Atletico bought the Turk . This is just another example of how deeply flawed Wenger’s transfer policy has been. He clearly liked Turan, who would’ve been a perfect fit at Arsenal, and at 11 mill Turan was a bargain. Instead we got Gervinho and Squilaci at a about 16 mill combined. Squilaci turned out to be a total bust at about 60 K per week, and Gervinho has been more of a miss than a hit. Not to mention his absence when playing in Africa’s cup of nations. Wenger should take some pointers from Fergie when it comes to transfers . The Portugeese Bebe was Ferguson’s only bad acquisition in recent years unlike Wenger , who’s list of bad buys is long and pricey. Hopefully , Wenger has learnt from his mistakes because cheap things tend to be expensive in the long run.

    Am in support of your write up towards wenger.i wan t my fellow gunners to know that wenger is DISCOVERY CHANNEL in europe at large.he discovers potential players without a way out.the calamity that is be falling the gunners today is wengers fault.arsenal has money now,let the so called economist go for players.the exit of wenger is an open doors unto arsenal fc.
