Liverpool have the luck when it comes to fixtures this weekend as they are not in action after the midweek international break.

Brendan Rodgers’ side return to action at Old Trafford next weekend to face Manchester United in the Premier League.

There were no reported injuries for Liverpool during the international break and there is good news on the injury front for the current second place side in the Premier League.

Both Lucas Leiva and Mamadou Sakho will be playing in the reserves on Friday after recovering from their respective injuries.

Lucas has been out of action since mid-January when he picked up a knee injury during the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Anfield.

The Brazilian midfielder had originally been expected to be out of action for two months but is ahead of schedule and could return to face Manchester United next weekend. He confirmed on his Twitter account today that he will be playing for the reserve team.

Provided they come through the game unscathed, and with a full week’s training ahead of them they could be in contention to face the defending champions next weekend.

Liverpool have 10 games to play this season and are in an excellent position to secure a top four finish and UEFA Champions League football next season.
