Serie A News… Ronaldinho chooses Gremio over Blackburn
He told Globoesporte: “If it was up to me, I’d already be wearing the Gremio jersey, even if it means earning less.”
Putting a stop to a transfer saga that was as far-fetched as those famous buckteeth, Blackburn, like Man City previously, have failed to attract Ronaldinho to the Premier League. Though Blackburn’s reported interest seemed to be more of a publicity stunt by new owners, Venkey’s, to win over fans disenchanted at Allardyce’s recent sacking.
The arrivals of Zlaten Ibrahimovic and Robinho last summer were the writing on the wall for Ronaldinho, now entering the twilight of his career. Now with the arrival of Antonio Cassano, and with his contract expiring at the end of this season, the Brazilian has well and truly been frozen out.
Ronaldinho obviously had a difficult choice between cold, grey and rainy Lancashire and sunny, hot Brazil! Plus, I hear the strip clubs in the North West aren’t to Ronnie’s tastes.
