Serie A News… Manchester United ponder Sirigu transfer

Manchester United are strongly looking into the possibility of signing Salavatore Sirigu, 23, as a long-term replacement for veteran keeper Edwin van der Sar.
Sirigu – who has been dubbed ‘the next Gigi Buffon’ -has been in good form for Palermo this season and is continuing to improve at a steady pace, which interests the European giants as they attempt to make a secure transition when van der Sar retires.
Palermo’s asking price of around £15m could also be a contributing factor to the deal, with United looking for value in a swollen market.
Manuel Neuer, another strong target, may be considered too expensive as Schalke 04 look for heavy compensation for the 23-year-old German international, thought to be in the region of £30m.
