MLS News… LA Galaxy legend Cobi Jones leaves after 15 years with the club
The LA Galaxy have announced today that Cobi Jones, who has been with the club as a player and assistant coach since the inaugural season in 1996, has elected to leave the club to become the Associate Director of Football with the New York Cosmos.
The 40-year-old played for the Galaxy from 1996-2007 before becoming an assistant coach with the club in November 2007, a position that he held for the past three years.
“I am both honored and blessed to have had such a wonderful career with the LA Galaxy and I am thankful for everything the club, the fans and the community has done for me and my family,” said Jones.
“I am thrilled that I was able to play professional soccer in my hometown and help lead the team to championships, hoisting the MLS Cup trophy and more. For that, I will forever be grateful to the Galaxy and the fans.”
