Off the pitch… Michael Owen lays into Liverpool

Manchester United striker Michael Owen, 31, has rubbed salt into the wound of all Liverpool supporters by claiming that they are ‘very reliant on their star players’.

Owen said, “Their position reflects where they are at now – they’re in the middle of a transitional period and off the pitch they’ve had a change of ownership… They’re also very reliant on a couple of star players and if they are out, then they’ve tended to struggle.”

Travelling Liverpool fans booed the injury-prone striker when he came on as a second-half sub in Sunday’s FA Cup tie at Old Trafford, but is he right to make comments about his former club?
