The agent of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has played down speculation that his client could leave Italy to join potential suitors Manchester City.
The Uruguayan international has scored three times against Manchester City in this season’s Champions League competition where the Eastlands club exited disappointingly at the group stage.
Cavani’s performances against City are likely to have tempted boss Roberto Mancini into making a bid for the Serie A hotshot this month – despite having the luxuries of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli already available to him.
Quoted on talkSPORT, Claudio Anelucci, Cavani’s agent, said: “I do not like talking about the transfer market at the moment.
“What really matters is speaking well of the good season he is having for Napoli. If there is a last-minute offer in January then it will have to correspond to Napoli’s valuation – not ours.”
Cavani has continued his impressive form for Napoli this season with 16 goals from 24 games in all competitions.
