Jeers inspired Manchester United comeback against Chelsea, says defender

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand claims that the jeers he received from Chelsea supporters inspired his side to come back from three goals down to draw at Stamford Bridge.

The Premier League champions looked set for their fourth defeat of the campaign when Chelsea centre-back David Luiz had put the Blues 3-0 ahead in the second half.

However, Manchester United fought back and salvaged a draw thanks to two Wayne Rooney penalties and a Javier Hernandez header.

Ferdinand, whose brother Anton has been the subject of alleged racial abuse from Chelsea’s John Terry, was booed throughout but told Twitter it drove the team on.

“3-0 down….it ain’t over until its over….that’s how we roll, Man Utd never say die attitude…away fans were immense again.

“I got booed by the cfc fans today,….well done guys thanks for inspiring me & the lads! That’s like fuel to me!”

Manchester United now lie two points behind title rivals Manchester City in the league table.
