Manchester City have entered the race to sign Athletic Bilbao centre-forward Fernando Llorente, according to a report from talkSPORT.
The Spanish international is also thought to have caught the attention of Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp but with Manchester City’s spending power to compete with, the Eastlands club are likely to out-bid their Premier League rivals.
Llorente has been in fine form for Bilbao of late and has been a key figure as the club have rose to a respectable sixth place in La Liga and reached the final of the Copa Del Rey.
The 26-year-old has contributed has with a welcome supply of goals too with 19 goals in 29 matches across all competitions for the Basque side.
Any move by Manchester City for Llorente would surely put Edin Dzeko’s immediate future in doubt with Roberto Mancini unlikely to keep hold of two target men.
Bilbao will certainly have a decision to make on their star man’s future in the summer with Llorente’s contract expiring at the end of next season.
