Tottenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is set to seal his move away from the club to join Lokomotiv Moscow following Spurs’ deal for Everton’s Louis Saha, according to Setanta Sports.
It is understood that Pavlyuchenko wants to improve his chances at featuring for his country, Russia, at the European Championships in the summer and with little first-team experience for Tottenham this campaign, the30-year-old looks set to return to his homeland.
Pavlyuchenko’s wish to leave Spurs has meant that Harry Redknapp has had to dip into the transfer market himself and has picked up 33-year-old Saha from Everton for an undisclosed fee.
A statement from Tottenham, published by Setanta, said: “We have reached agreement for the transfer of Roman Pavlyuchenko to Lokomotiv Moscow.
“The striker joined us from Spartak Moscow in August 2008 and went on to score 42 goals in 113 appearances. We thank Roman for his contribution and wish him every success for the future.”
The former Spartak Moscow striker has extra time to secure the move to Russia with the country’s window closing on 24 February.
