Poland may have bowed out of Euro 2012 at the group stage but their right-back Lukasz Piszczek has been interesting Champions League winners Chelsea, according to the METRO.
The Blues have already signed Marko Marin and Eden Hazard this summer but Roberto Di Matteo has prioritised reinforcements at full-back following the release of Jose Bosingwa last month.
Twenty-seven-year-old Piszczek recently won acclaim for his marauding crusades from right back at Euro 2012 and is part of the much coveted Borussia Dortmund trio that also includes Robert Lewandowski and Jakub Blaszczykowski.
Reportedly, Chelsea have budgeted £15m for the signing and such a move would take Di Matteo’s side beyond the £50m mark in terms of transfer funds already spent this summer.
Piszczek is not the only full back impressing Chelsea however.
If such a move for the Dortmund man fails to materialise, contingency plans surround France’s Mathieu Debuchy and Holland’s Gregory Van Der Wiel who are also valued very highly by their clubs Lille and Ajax respectively.
