Emmanuel Adebayor is set to move to Real Madrid on loan, as the Spanish side currently only have one fit striker.
With Gonzalo Higuain likely to be out for the rest of the season, Jose Mourinho has admitted he is looking to purchase a proven forward.
He told SkySports, “I have only Benzema and a club like Arsenal, you have five strikers.”
Adebayor has been made available as Manchester City have completed the £27m signing of Edin Dzeko from Wolfsburg this week.
Boss Roberto Mancini said yesterday that he may have to wait for Mario Balotelli to recover from injury before sanctioning the deal.
