Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier is attempting to sign France and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema on loan, according The Guardian.
It is believed that if Madrid boss Mourinho can sign Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City then the door is open for Benzema to leave the club.
Benzema joined Real Madrid in 2009 for £30m but has found playing time limited at the Bernabeu.
