Bayern Munich are to up their interest in Manchester United’s Ángel Di María, according to Sky Deutschland – however, the Premier League side have no intentions of selling the British record transfer signing, according to Sky Sports.

The Argentine playmaker is believed to the German Bundesliga side’s number one target this summer and Di María’s future has come under speculation over the past couple of months after struggling in his debut season in England.

Di María moved to Old Trafford from Real Madrid for a staggering £59.7 million last summer, but only managed to complete 90 minutes on seven occasions in the Premier League last season.

The 27-year-old had scored three goals in his first five appearances before he slowed down dramatically in his production in the second half the campaign.  The 2014 UEFA Champions League winner found himself a a backup to Ashley Young on the left wing towards the end of the season.

Ángel Di María is currently representing Argentina in the Copa América over in Chile where it is understood he is being watched by Bayern Munich scouts.

Head coach Pep Guardiola is believed to be interested in bringing the winger to Germany this summer as the long-term successor of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry who are 31 and 32 respectively and each having struggled with fitness over the past couple of seasons.

Sky Sports News reporter James Cooper insists any approach from Bayern will be rejected:

“The constant message from United this summer has been that he is going nowhere, he is going to stay at Manchester United and be a big part of Louis van Gaal’s plans for next season.

“Our friends at Sky Deutschland have been talking about Bayern Munich being interested in Di Maria and even scouting him over at the Copa América. I don’t think they are the only club doing that, but United won’t budge on this and Di María won’t be going anywhere this summer.”

It’s an interesting statement from Cooper as United have added to their left wing options this summer with the £25 million signing of Memphis Depay.

Van Gaal currently has the Dutch international, Young and Di María as his left wing options next season.  Whilst the Argentine is adept to playing on the right wing also, Juan Mata is the regular starter on that side of the pitch.

Depay’s arrival increased the speculation that Ángel Di María would be off this summer and should Bayern Munich make a substantial offer for the United player, one would have to feel they would think long and hard about accepting it.
