Bayern Munich Player Tops Man Utd’s Wanted List

Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski is top of the Manchester United’s most wanted list, according to Telegraph.

This comes hours after the Premier League side signed Bastian Schweinsteiger from the German champions.

The 30-year-old Germany captain arrived for a reported £14.4 million price tag and now Louis van Gaal is looking for more big names and big money signings ahead of the 2015-16 season.

On the same day, United also wrapped up a £24 million deal for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin – that seemingly will be the end of the spending spree for centre midfielders from the Dutch manager who also signed Ander Herrera and Daley Blind last summer.

Following the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao, it is believed the Dutch manager will be looking to add a new striker to his side this summer – and that Robert Lewandowski is his top target.

The 26-year-old has been a huge success in Germany, for both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich over the past five years where he has scored 91 goals in 162 Bundesliga appearances for the two clubs combined.

Lewandowski has been one of the best strikers in world football over the past three seasons, but Manchester United and other Premier League sides were unable to land him on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund last year, as he opted to join the 2013 UEFA Champions League winners.

With reports that some of the players have lost faith in Pep Guardiola’s tactics at the Allianz Arena and with Bastian Schweinsteiger already leaving the club – could a deal be possible for the Polish international?

United have previously been linked with a number of strikers this summer – including Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuaín and Edinson Cavani.  Will van Gaal lure any one of these four to Old Trafford?

It’s hard to believe that Bayern Munich would let Lewandowski go – they have no out-and-out replacements for their target man, although both Thomas Müller and Mario Götze are adept to playing the central striker role.

Bayern Munich are also strongly linked with a move for United’s Ángel Di María – could a deal be done which sees the players going in either direction?
