Borussia Dortmund Sign Man Utd Starlet

Borussia Dortmund have signed Adnan Januzaj on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United.

The young Belgian had started United’s last four games including their two UEFA Champions League qualifiers but his below-par performances since scoring a deflected winner versus Aston Villa in the first of those matches, has seen Louis van Gaal send him out on loan to the German giants.

Dortmund announced the news of their exciting capture ahead of the international break and before the summer transfer window shuts in less than 11 hours’ time.

With United also selling Ángel Di María this month it comes as a little surprise that they have allowed the young Belgian to go out on loan.  It would certainly suggest that Marouane Fellaini is a bigger part of the Dutch manager’s plans than many thought.

Fellaini does offer a plan B and aerial threat that none of his teammates in attacking positions do.

Manchester United also completed the sale of Javier Hernández in a £7.3 million move to Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

This would have left United with only Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as options in attack, although van Gaal has previously said Fellaini is an option there.

However, United are on the verge of completing a £36 million move for AS Monaco forward Anthony Martial.  The 19-year-old cane play on both the left wing and up front.  He has bags of pace but the transfer fee does seem incredibly over-inflated given that he has only made 52 Ligue 1 appearances in his career (for Lyon & Monaco combined), scoring 11 goals.

Manchester United fell further behind early pace setters Manchester City at the weekend as they were beaten 2-1 by Swansea City on Sunday.
