Bundesliga News… American international leaves Schalke for Blackburn
American international midfielder Jermaine Jones has left Schalke on a temporary basis after agreeing a short-term loan-deal with Premier League club Blackburn Rovers until the summer, with a view to a permanent deal.
The 29-year-old, who represented Germany at youth level until changing his allegiance in 2009, was looking for a move away from the Bundelisga after falling out-of-favour with manager Felix Magath.
Speaking to German daily, Bild, Jones said: “The coach (Magath) doesn’t include me in his plans and that is difficult for any player.”
German-born Jones, who has three-and-half years left on his current deal with Schalke, has found it hard of late to force himself back in the team after missing all of last season with a muscle injury and his agent believes Jones will have no problem adjusting to English football.
“As a fighter, Jermaine Jones will fit perfectly into English football,” said Jones’ agent, Roger Wittmann.
