Schalke 04 youngster Leroy Sané has not handed in a transfer request to the German Bundesliga side despite strong interest from Manchester City this summer, according to the Daily Star.

The Royal Blues are willing to entertain offers should the 20-year-old hand in a formal transfer request.

Manchester City have been linked with a move for the highly-rated youngster this summer with Pep Guardiola believed to be keen to bring the German international to the Premier League ahead of the 2016-17 season.

The three times champions of England are believed to be willing to pay £40 million for the player who only became a regular in the Schalke first-team this past season.

Guardiola has already landed İlkay Gündoğan from Borussia Dortmund and Nolito from Celta Vigo this summer as he looks to make Manchester City worthy of their status as the bookmakers’ favourites to win the Premier League title in his first season at the Etihad.

However, Schalke 04 sporting director Christian Heidel says that Sané has yet to inform the club that he has any intentions to leave.  Heidel is quoted by the Daily Star [via the Bild] as saying:

“Leroy has not told us that he wants to leave Schalke for now.

“If that were to happen, interested clubs could approach us to discuss a move.”

“If Leroy wants a transfer, we will make a quick decision on what happens. I want to emphasise it is our decision.

“It is important that our plans for 2016-17 are not affected by it.”

Leroy Sané is predominately a right winger – a position that Manchester City are widely-expected to upgrade this summer with Jesús Navas never convincing in the Premier League following his move from Sevilla three years ago.

The four-time German international offers pace, good dribbling ability with a love for taking on defenders, and a good long distance shot on him.  His sole appearance at Euro 2016 this summer came in the final 11 minutes of Germany’s 2-0 defeat to France in the semi-finals.
