Player Ratings: Chelsea 3-0 Bournemouth
Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge this afternoon to make it a club record 12 consecutive top flight victories.
A brace from Pedro either side of an Eden Hazard penalty means the Blues have a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League prior to Liverpool hosting Stoke City tomorrow.
Bournemouth and Jack Wilshere in particular gave it a go in West London on Boxing Day but became the 10th team in Chelsea’s last 12 to fail to beat Thibaut Courtois.
Here are CSAR’s player ratings from Chelsea 3-0 Bournemouth:
Thibaut Courtois 7 – Made a couple of good saves to help keep Chelsea’s impressive record of clean sheets going.
César Azpilicueta 9 – Another excellent performance from the centre-back who got the better of all Bournemouth’s attacks down his side. César Azpilicueta was also good in the build up to attacks in bringing and receiving the ball in the opposition half.
David Luiz 9 – A top performance from the Brazilian who made a couple of key sliding tackles and clearances.
Gary Cahill 8 – There was one occasion where Gary Cahill could have been at fault for Bournemouth scoring but otherwise a solid performance.
Victor Moses 9 – An excellent performance down the right and even moved inside at times to help out defensively. Passed up a couple of opportunities to shoot to pass to a teammate instead.
Cesc Fàbregas 8 – Comfortable and confident on the ball with some nice short-range and forward passes to help Chelsea’s attack. Set up the opening goal for Pedro.
Nemanja Matić 7 – Solid performance in open play but a poor defensive header from a corner in the first half gifted Bournemouth a chance.
Marcos Alonso 7 – Solid defensive performance down the left but didn’t push forward as often as he usually does.
Willian 6 – Quiet game as part of the front three. Missed a couple of decent chances too but didn’t create much.
Pedro 9 – Two excellent solo performances from the Spaniard who was picked as the striker ahead of Michy Batshuayi with Diego Costa suspended. Didn’t disappoint his manager in that sense but picked up a yellow card meaning he’ll miss the Stoke game during the week, when Costa returns.
Eden Hazard 10 – A man of the match performance from the unplayable Belgian who won and converted his own penalty early in the second half, made some excellent runs and passes in a game where Bournemouth’s defence couldn’t handle Eden Hazard.
Nathaniel Chalobah (7 mins) N/A – A late run out for the youngster to help see out Chelsea’s clean sheet.
Ola Aina (1 min) N/A – Brought on to help run out the clock.
Michy Batshuayi (1 min) N/A – Surprised he wasn’t brought on earlier. The big money summer signing has now played only 78 minutes in 11 substitute appearances this season.
