Manchester United have offered £86 million-rated Atlético Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann a contract worth £220,000-a-week following talks with his agent this week, according to the Telegraph.

The 25-year-old has become one of the best striker’s in world football following his move to Atléti from Real Sociedad back in 2014.  He was the Player of the Tournament at Euro 2016 this past summer having scored 6 goals to help lead France to the final.

Griezmann has been playing  below par by his standards so far this season with 10 goals and six assists in his 22 appearances.  He has continually been linked with a move away from the Vicente Calderón Stadium and today reports are suggesting the attacker could make a big-money move to England.

The Telegraph are citing a report originating from the Sun that claims Manchester United have offered Griezmann a contract worth £220,000-a-week to make the move to Old Trafford in the summer.

United chiefs put forward the offer during negotiations with Griezmann’s representatives this week according to the report. However, there is no suggestion that Atlético Madrid gave the two parties permission to hold talks.

It would be interesting to see if the French international would be tempted by that sum especially as Griezmann has dropped hints in recent months that he will consider his future at the end of the current season.

The Telegraph claim that the Spanish are demanding £86 million for his signature and Manchester United are one of the few clubs in the world who could afford that sort of money.  Therefore a deal could realistically be on the cards.

We shall have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but Antoine Griezmann is close friends with United’s Paul Pogba and we’rem sure the midfielder would do his best to try and lure his fellow countryman to Old Trafford if given the opportunity.

Antoine Griezmann would be a sensational signing if United were able to pull it off and he’d be an excellent long-term replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimović with the 35-year-old coming towards the end of his career.
