Arsenal have been handed a big injury boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League last 16 clash with Bayern Munich as Arturo Vidal has admitted that he’s in danger of missing the first leg.

The Chilean aggravated a rib injury and was subsequently forced off 10 minutes into the second half of Bayern’s stoppage time win at SC Freiburg on Friday night.  Vidal has confirmed that the issue could take up to three weeks to recover.

Bayern Munich host the Premier League side in the first leg in just three weeks’ time so the 29-year-old is facing a battle against time in order to be fully fit for the opening leg at the Allianz Arena.

Vidal is quoted by the Mirror as saying:

“I feel bad and have severe pain on the rib. Now I will have to pause, because I cannot play.

“I already missed training for a week, but now it should take at least two or three weeks.

“[I will see] how I feel for the last 16 in the Champions League.”

The box-to-box midfielder has been carrying a rib injury since Bayern Munich’s Telekom Cup final victory over Mainz 05 earlier this month and only made the issue worse in the Bundesliga game on Friday.

We shall have to wait and see whether Arturo Vidal recovers in time for the second round tie on 15 February and should he not it would be a big blow to the German champions.
