Player Ratings: Arsenal 5-0 Lincoln City
Arsenal ran out comfortable 5-0 winners over non-league side Lincoln City to book their place at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup semi-finals.
It took until the first minute of first half stoppage time before the Premier League side finally broke the deadlock with Theo Walcott finishing off a nice move inside the penalty area with the aid of a deflection.
Olivier Giroud doubled the lead early in the second half before an own goal made it 3-0 before the hour. Alexis Sánchez scored an excellent 20-yarder to make it 4-0. Aaron Ramsey walked in the fifth following a good assist from the Chilean.
Here are CSAR’s player ratings from Arsenal 5-0 Lincoln City:
Petr Čech 7 – Pulled off an excellent save at 0-0 but wasn’t tested by the non-league side again until the 80th minute.
Héctor Bellerín 9 – Excellent supporting the attack which included setting up a tap-in for Olivier Giroud to give Arsenal a 2-0 lead. Created a good chance for himself in the second half too but fired wide.
Shkodran Mustafi 8 – Comfortable game at the back from the German centre-back.
Laurent Koscielny 8 – Received a ridiculous yellow card for being run into but otherwise had nothing to worry about.
Kieran Gibbs 8 – Chopped down a couple of times when bringing the ball forward. Linked up well with Alexis Sánchez down the left. It was Kieran Gibbs’ cutback that deflected in for an own goal and Arsenal’s third.
Aaron Ramsey 7 – Really didn’t have his shooting boots on today and sloppy in conceding possession on a few occasions too. Picked up good space in and around the penalty area though and was able to walk one in for 5-0.
Granit Xhaka 7 – Helped Arsenal dominate possession after being on the back foot in the opening 10 minutes. Replaced after Arsenal scored a third having picked up a yellow card in the first half.
Theo Walcott 8 – Got the scoring going in first half stoppage time with the help of a big deflection. Had seen an early effort tipped onto the post. Found time and space down on the right wing on a few occasions.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain N/A – Came off with an apparent hamstring injury in the opening half hour.
Alexis Sánchez 9 – Some nice passes in and around the penalty. Scored a beautiful solo goal to make it 4-0 with nearly 20 minutes to go. Assisted Aaron Ramsey a few minutes later. Cracked he crossbar with a free kick late on too.
Olivier Giroud 8 – Scored the goal to kill the tie off early in the second half having missed two good chances prior.
Mesut Özil (64 mins) 8 – Played some nice passes, created a few chances and was a useful weapon in the final third.
Francis Coquelin (30 mins) N/A – Replaced Granit Xhaka to prevent the Swiss international picking up a second yellow card. Didn’t have much to do.
Lucas Pérez (26 mins) N/A – Seemed desperate to get among the goalscorers but it never happened for the Spaniard who drove two efforts way wide.
