3-4-2-1: Predicted Arsenal XI to Face Chelsea

Arsène Wenger will lead Arsenal out at Wembley for the 2017 FA Cup final on Saturday in which many believe will be his final game in charge of the Gunners.

Opponents Chelsea head to the famous stadium as the bookmakers’ favourites having run away with the Premier League title in Antonio Conte’s first season in charge.

To make things worse for Arsenal, they have a defensive crisis against one of the best attacks in world football right now.

Here is the Arsenal team I think we’ll see taking on Chelsea:

Goalkeeper: Petr Čech
The experienced goalkeeper will remain between the posts and can expect a busy game versus his former side. Arsenal were beaten 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the last meeting between these two.

Defence: Rob Holding, Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal
Wenger has been sticking with his own 3-4-2-1 formation recently and despite some injuries in the middle of his defence I think we’ll see Nacho Monreal slot in to keep the formation as it is. Rob Holding played the last few games of the season in this formation whilst we’re guessing Shkodran Mustafi will be fit.

Midfield: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka, Kieran Gibbs
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has played very well in his wingback role so only an injury or illness could prevent him starting the FA Cup. I think we’ll see Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka play the key defensive midfield roles with Francis Coquelin good for the bench. Kieran Gibbs offers pace and defensive experience as the left wingback and should be looking to get in behind Victor Moses.

Attack: Mesut Özil, Alexis Sánchez, Danny Welbeck
I think Arsène Wenger has to go with Danny Welbeck ahead of Olivier Giroud as the Englishman’s pace could get in behind David Luiz and Gary Cahill. Giroud has been wasteful once again this season but has made an impact as a substitute. Whoever starts up front, Alexis Sánchez will give his usual 100% commitment behind them, alongside Mesut Özil, who often goes quiet in big games.

Here’s how I think Arsenal will line up:
