Liverpool, who were upsetting the odds in Europe but were struggling for any consistency in the Premier League, played host to Bolton Wanderers at Anfield in a crucial match in the race for fourth place.

Sam Allardyce’s Bolton themselves were still very much in the race for the Champions League spot, along with Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton, and a three points was a must for both sides as the season drew to a close.

In a match that Liverpool had control of, the Reds struggled to make the breakthrough until the 86th minute when cult hero Igor Biscan headed in a Djimi Traore cross (now isn’t that a dream team?).

Liverpool won 1-0 but lost out on fourth place to Everton, instead, Rafa Benitez’s men went onto to lift some meaningless trophy…
