Arsenal kick off their UEFA Europa League campaign this evening at home to Bundesliga strugglers FC Köln.

The German opposition are yet to collect a single point in their opening three fixtures of the season, scoring just once.  They were beaten 3-0 at home by Bayern Munich over the weekend and lost their derby game versus Borussia Mönchengladbach on the opening weekend of the season.

The two teams are confirmed as:

David Ospina; Rob Holding, Per Mertesacker, Nacho Monreal; Héctor Bellerín, Alex Iwobi, Mohamed Elneny, Ainsley Maitland-Niles; Theo Walcott, Alexis Sánchez; Olivier Giroud

Substitutes: Matt Macey, Shkodran Mustafi, Sead Kolašinac, Jeff Reine-Adelaide, Reiss Nelson, Jack Wilshere, Chuba Akpom

Alexis Sánchez starts in an otherwise largely rotated starting lineup for Arsenal.  David Ospina makes his first start of the season in goal for the Gunners whilst Per Mertesacker is the only German in the starting lineup.  Shkodran Mustafi is among the substitutes but Mesut Özil is rested.

With a London derby against Chelsea on Sunday Arsène Wenger has rested most of his key players.  Olivier Giroud starts up top whilst youngsters Rob Holding and Ainsley Maitland-Niles both start.

Timo Horn; Lukas Klünter, Jorge Meré, Dominique Heintz, Konstantin Rausch; Matthias Lehmann; Simon Zoller, Marco Höger, Jonas Hector, Leonardo Bittencourt; Jhon Córdoba

Substitutes: Thomas Kessler, Jannes-Kilian Horn, Frederik Sørensen Marcel Risse, Miloš Jojić, Yuya Osako, Sehrou Guirassy

Although the visitors name a strong lineup by their standards they are desperately struggling in the Bundesliga to start the new campaign.
