Chelsea host Arsenal in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final tie at Stamford Bridge this evening.

These two only met last week in the Premier League at the Emirates in which Héctor Bellerín scored a stoppage time equaliser for Arsenal.  They are set to play the second leg of their EFL Cup tie in a fortnight’s time.

The winner of this tie will face either Manchester City or Bristol City in next month’s final.

Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be in use in West London this evening.

The two teams for this evening’s game are confirmed as:

Thibaut Courtois; César Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rüdiger; Victor Moses, N’Golo Kanté, Cesc Fàbregas, Danny Drinkwater, Marcos Alonso; Eden Hazard, Álvaro Morata

Substitutes: Eduardo, David Luiz, Davide Zappacosta, Tiémoué Bakayoko, Willian, Pedro, Michy Batshuayi

Gary Cahill is rested this evening in an other very strong lineup named by Antonio Conte.  It appears to be a 3-5-2 formation again as N’Golo Kanté, Cesc Fàbregas and Danny Drinkwater all start.  This means Eden Hazard will be alongside Álvaro Morata in attack for Chelsea.

Even the bench named by the Italian manager is very experienced as he appears eager to reach the final of this season’s competition.

David Ospina; Calum Chambers, Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding; Héctor Bellerín, Jack Wilshere, Granit Xhaka, Ainsley Maitland-Miles; Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck; Alexandre Lacazette

Substitutes: Matt Macey, Mavropanos, Per Mertesacker, Reiss Nelson, Mohamed Elneny, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sánchez

Arsène Wenger has named many more backup players than his counterpart, with David Ospina remaining the cup goalkeeper this evening, youngsters Calum Chambers and Rob Holding starting in defence, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles getting another chance in midfield.

Alexis Sánchez and Per Mertesacker are named among the substitutes but Mesut Özil is absent from this evening’s squad.

20-year-old defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who only arrived from PAS Giannina earlier this month, is named among the substitutes.
