Aston Villa’s American goalkeeper Brad Friedel has reportedly been declared bankrupt over debts relating to his ‘Premier Soccer Academy’ which he established in his native Ohio back in 2007.
The American press claimed in July 2009 that Premier Soccer Academies were being sued over unpaid loans of $7.6m, however, new documents suggest Friedel still owes nearly £5m.
The 39-year-old, who is currently on a £40,000 a week contract which expires at the end of the season, may just have to play on for a few more years yet!
