Kanté to PSG Could See Torreira Moving to Chelsea & Not Arsenal
Many times clubs have hijacked Arsenal’s moves for players because the Gunners are known to penny pitch and drag their feet. Years back Chelsea beat their rivals to the signing of Juan Mata just when everyone thought the player was on his way to Arsenal. There was also the case of Eden Hazard to Chelsea as well. Arsenal were the first club linked with the signing of the then Lille attacker but they chose to wait ,and Chelsea moved in and signed the player a season after.
Shinji Kagawa is another player who could have joined Arsenal but they ended up losing out on the signing of the Japanese playmaker while trying to knock a few pounds off the transfer fee. Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United moved in and signed the player and the rest is history.
Another player they lost out on due to penny pitching is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Gunners were on the case of the player before Manchester United according to media reports, but United moved quickly and firmly and signed the player. We could well see the same thing happening again this summer.
In the last few weeks the Gunners have been linked with the signing of Lucas Torreira. The deal is said to have been agreed with Sampdoria before the 2018 World Cup but with N’Golo Kanté getting linked with Paris Saint-Germain, it will not be a surprise if Chelsea chose to go for Torreira as a direct replacement for Kanté.
The Blues usually don’t mind paying big transfer fees and can afford to offer the player a much better wage package which could sway things in their favour. This is very speculative but anyone who knows how the transfer market works, especially when Arsenal is involved, knows this is a very big possibility.
