Personal Terms Agreed, Chelsea Could Complete Big Transfer Deal With La Liga Club Soon
If you believe football consultant Ian McGarry, Chelsea and Brazil attacker Willian have agreed personal terms with La Liga giants Barcelona ahead of a possible move to the Camp Nou this summer. The Brazilian has been strongly linked with a move to the Catalans over the past couple of weeks, and if you believe McGarry, the deal is getting close to being completed.
Speaking on the latest episode of the transfer window podcast from the Daily Star, the football consultant was quoted as saying;
“Barcelona have satisfied Willian’s contract demands in the discussion with (agent) Kian Joorabchian and the club and it’s now just about agreeing a fee with Chelsea.
“(Lionel) Messi and (Luis) Suárez have complained to coach Ernesto Valverde that they are weak on the right-hand side and need more creativity, someone who delivers the ball quickly into the centre of the pitch so they can do their thing.
“Barcelona are looking to strengthen because they know Real Madrid are looking to strengthen significantly.
“Willian is the kind of player who will fit in perfectly with the Barcelona squad and the philosophy with how he plays.”
This is getting interesting. Willian hasbecome a bit-part player for Chelsea under Antonio Conte over the past two seasons, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they decide to let him go this summer. Manchester United have also been linked with a £60 million move for the Brazilian winger.
But with Chelsea still yet to resolve their managerial issue, it is not certain if they will sanction a sale of the player until the managerial issue has been sorted. Of course, it could also be that they are sure of signing Maurizio Sarri and that the Italian manager has sanctioned the sale of Willian.
Whatever the case may be, the Blues will most certainly prefer to sell the player to Barcelona than Premier League rivals Manchester United for obvious reasons. Another thing that will be interesting to see if Chelsea will do a straight cash deal or a swap deal that will see a Barcelona player moving to West London as part of the deal.
