Liverpool to return to the top on Friday night

Liverpool can return to the top of the Premier League on Friday night with a win away to struggling Southampton.

With six games to go Jürgen Klopp’s side are one point behind Manchester City, who are in FA Cup action this weekend.

Indeed, the Citizens’ remaining fixture list is quite hectic because of their cup involvement, and their UEFA Champions League tie versus Tottenham Hotspur can be considered a much greater challenge than who Liverpool were handed in the quarter-finals – FC Porto.

Liverpool’s focus this evening will be on St Mary’s and an expected three points against a Southampton side who are five points above the relegation zone after back-to-back victories.

Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side have lost just one of their five home games in 2019 and won their last two, against Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, this Liverpool front three are more than capable of unlocking the Saints’ defence just as they did at Anfield back in September when they won 3-0.

Mohamed Salah scored that day but the Egyptian has gone six games without a goal heading into this evening’s game. Teammates Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané are on fire of late though.

The Reds’ defence has been a little leaky of late but they shouldn’t have a problem outscoring the hosts on the south coast this evening.

We’re in agreement with omega tipsters who are going for a Liverpool win this evening. Betfair are offering odds of 1.42, which, whilst it doesn’t offer a huge return, can be considered a dead cert.

The game is live on Sky Sports meaning that you can do in-play betting to ensure Liverpool are on top, if you prefer.
