[Video Goals] Everton 2-2 Liverpool
Everton and Liverpool played out a controversial 2-2 in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park as the Premier League returned from the international break this lunchtime.
Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah had twice given the defending champions the lead before headed equalisers from Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin – the latter 10 minutes from time.
The Toffees were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time following a nasty two-footed lunge from Richarlison.
However, Liverpool were harshly treated twice by VAR on their neighbours’ ground.
The first incident came in the 10th minute when goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s two-footed lunge on Virgil van Dijk in the penalty area saw the Dutch centre-back go off injured and the Everton goalkeeper avoid any punishment because of an offside in the build up.
Then in stoppage time, Jordan Henderson appeared to have won the game for Liverpool, only for VAR to rule the goal out for a mysterious offside. Even the screenshot below does not pick up any offside.
