The big debate: Should United fans forgive Rooney?
On October 22, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney agreed to sign a five-year deal to stay at Old Trafford, just two days after he revealed he wanted to quit the club. By questioning the Red Devils’ ambition last month, Wayne managed to offend the manager, the players and the fans all in one fell swoop. However, after weeks without the slightest mutter of ‘I’m sorry’, last night the fans finally got what they deserved, as Mr Sincere apologised… well, kind of:
“I feel like I have apologised to the fans, but everyone keeps saying that I haven’t and, if that is the case, then I apologise for my side of things.”
But should United fans forgive the 25-year-old? The ex-Everton star received a mixed reception on his return to Old Trafford against Wigan and it looks like some sections of support may not be easy to win over.
