Liverpool will reportedly meet Newcastle United’s staggering £35m asking price for Andy Carroll, a deal that could pave the way for Fernando Torres to complete his move to Chelsea before tonight’s transfer deadline.
The centre-forward has only played a total of 41 games at Premier League level, nevertheless, he is regarded as one of the most promising young English strikers in the game and his presence would be required at Anfield should Torres leave.
