With two mammoth transfers taking place in yesterday’s extraordinary deadline day, there have been a couple of major shifts in the top 10 of the world’s most expensive players. Incredibly, Liverpool’s new number nine, and holder of just one England cap, Andy Carroll, has made his way onto the list at just 22 years of age.

Exiting Liverpool is Fernando Torres and the Spanish striker also makes a big impact on the list. The former Reds idol may not be top of the world list but he is the most expensive Premier League transfer ever.

2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Inter Milan to Barcelona (£60.7m)

3. Kaka – AC Milan to Real Madrid (£56m)

4. Fernando Torres – Liverpool to Chelsea (£50m)

5. Zinedane Zidane – Juventus to Real Madrid (£45.6m)
