Off the pitch… Southampton are ‘not for sale’ after £50m takeover rumour
Money men from the Middle East consider the club as one of the most attractive to investors in England, despite being in League One. Southampton came out of administration and were sold to German-Swiss billionaire Markus Liebherr 19 months ago, for what many considered was a bargain £13m.
When the Swiss billionaire died last summer, his daughter Katharina Liebherr took control of the club, and chairman Nicola Cortese was quick to reassure Saints fans the club was not for sale.
Despite rumours in the national press, sources close to the football club have told BBC Radio Solent that the club is not for sale.
