Name: Julian Dicks

Club: West Ham

Position: Defender

Nationality: English

Julian Dicks was nothing short of a West Ham legend during his time at Upton Park. He joined in 1988 from Birmingham City in a £300,000 deal. It was during his time with the Hammers where he established himself as a solid and uncompromising Premier League player.

He was known for his tough tackling and reputation as a hard man. Dicks employed an old school approach of pure aggression, intimidation and the odd reckless challenge – we’re not entirely sure how he’d fair in today’s game!

In 1993, Dicks made the big move to Liverpool for £1.5m to play for Graeme Souness. However, the move did not work out after the hard-man struggled for fitness and subsequent form. He quickly returned to West Ham for a second spell and managed 21 goals in 100 games.
