Oxlade-Chamberlain signed a three-year contract with Southampton earlier this season but it didn’t stop Arsenal and Liverpool scouts keeping a close eye on the midfielder last weekend.
Like former Southampton star Theo Walcott , Oxlade-Chamberlain has lightning pace and an eye for goal. With a strike rate at a goal every two games, expect to see the youngster fast tracked to the first team in order the help the Saints with their promotion bid.
A source inside the club said, “The coaching staff rate him higher than Walcott at the same age and the club have sorted out their financial issues so are not under any great pressure to sell him for a knockdown fee. It will take Walcott money to get him.”
