Arsenal to lose out to Napoli in race for French defender?
TalkSPORT are reporting that Arsenal could be set to miss out on the signature of Montpellier’s Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to Napoli.
The 23-year-old, who was cut from France’s final 23-man squad Euro 2012 squad, was a key part of Montpellier’s surprise Ligue 1 success last season – playing 34 times – and has caught the attention of scouts from Arsenal.
However, it is claimed that Serie A’s Napoli have put themselves in the driving seat for Yanga-Mbiwa’s signature by entering talks with Montpellier over the sale of the centre-back.
Yanga-Mbiwa has just over a year remaining on his contract at Montpellier but the club apparently want at least £13m before they think about selling.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Yanga-Mbiwa’s Montpellier team mate Olivier Giroud.
