AC Milan look set to capture exciting French prospect M’Baye Niang ahead of a host of Premier League suitors – including Arsenal – according to the Evening Standard.

The 17-year-old, who is regarded as one of the finest prospects in French football, currently plays for recently relegated French side Caen and has been informed he can leave the club.

Arsenal were thought to be the front-runners for the teenager after he impressed on trial at the Emirates last month, but the clubs have failed to agree terms with Caen.

An offer of £5m was rejected by the French side and talks broke down last week with Niang now prepared to look for other offers.

Manchester City and Spurs wanted the player to come to them on trial but Caen are now in advanced talks with the Italian giants.

Reports suggest that the Italians will pay £400,000 for a year-long loan with an option to purchase the player next summer for £6m.

Niang is now poised to sign for the club over the weekend to disappoint a host of Premier League clubs.
