Ajax right-back Gregory van der Wiel, who has consistently linked with a move to Chelsea, has finally left the Amsterdam Arena – for Paris Saint Germain.

Chelsea, who currently lead the Premier League table after three games, have lost out to the French side who continue to splash the cash on more big money signings.

Van der Wiel made 130 appearances for his hometown club and completed the move this week.

A statement on PSG’s official website read: “Gregory van der Wiel, 24 years old, an international player from Holland, has been transferred from Ajax by Paris Saint-Germain, for a duration of four years.”

The signing takes PSG’s spending this summer passed the £120million mark as Van Der Wiel joins the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi, Thiago Sila and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the French capital.

Chelsea signed Marseille full-back Cesar Azpilicueta last month to help strengthen the right side of their defence.
