Newcastle United to go back for Sochaux defender in January?

After a rumoured move to Newcastle on deadline day collapsed, Sochaux’s Ryad Boudebouz has confirmed he will be leaving the French club next summer.

The flying winger looked, at some stages toward the end of the transfer window, to be close to a move to St James’ Park, but his employers rejected the approach.

The 22-year-old has also been the subject of interest from Liverpool this summer, with reports circulating that the club were in talks with the Algerian’s agent.

Now reports from InsideFutbol confirm that the sought after wide-man is set to leave the Ligue 1 club next summer, as he has grown frustrated by Sochaux’s refusal to let him leave.

“I will stay at Sochaux, but of course, at the end of the season, I will leave,” he said.

This statement has fuelled rumours that a January approach for Boudebouz may be accepted, as the French club will be keen to receive a minimal fee, rather than allow the player to leave for free in the summer.

So what is he – a defender or a ‘flying winger’?
    Make your mind up.
