Arsenal ready to rekindle interest in French international

Arsenal are keen on signing highly-rated French international Étienne Capoue in January, according to TalkSport.

The combative Toulouse midfielder has been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for a while after he impressed for the Ligue 1 side and interested was increased after a deal for fellow French enforcer Yann M’Vila fell through.

Capoue, who joined Toulouse on a youth contract in 2005 after the club beat Lille, Auxerre and Bordeaux to his signature, was reported to be close to signing for the Gunners in summer but no move materialised.

The 24-year-old would have impressed Arsenal boss Wenger last weekend as he netted his first international goal in a solid appearance for France against Belarus in only his second appearance for Les Blues.

Despite a strong summer in the transfer market, the Gunners still appear short in central midfield after the sale of Alex Song to Barcelona and Capoue could be the solution t0 their midfield problems.
